Two Staff members (Gabriella Kisapai and Andrew Raoma) traveled from Port Moresby to Lae to support Georgina Bon in delivering a number of activities from September to November, including Independence Day celebrations. There were three main highlights.
- the 62nd Morobe Roadshow. Hin4H was invited to join 2 other sports in having a promotional presence over 2 days. The team were able to engage with the community explaining the ethos behind Hin4H and how it is integrated into the community with the Live Well, Learn Well, Lead Well background. The Team set up a ‘Have a Go’ area so anyone could try to score a goal, the highlight was being involved with the Australian Consulate General and NBC Radio who did a combined 8 minute live-stream interviewing the Hin4H Staff.
- Papua New Guinea Independence Day Celebrations where the Hin4H staff ran a mini-tournament at their fields in Lae. The education component of the event was providing the participants with information around historical facts about Independence Day and the significance of it.
- As a result of the promotions at the Morobe Roadshow and Georgina’s work in Lae’s schools she received an invitation to take the program to Buang Village – a remote outreach community in the Morobe Province. Georgina made her first visit in early October which was a great success and followed up with a second visit early November. Previously the only sports available were football or basketball.
