Over the weekend, OHF staff Gill Gemming and Kirsten Stuckey led an FIH Developers Workshop in Suva, Fiji. This marked a major milestone as the first Developer course run outside New Zealand in the Oceania region. It’s a significant step forward in developing key hockey leaders across the Pacific.
The course plays a central role in OHF’s Education Plan. It’s designed to build a foundation of coaching, umpiring, and officiating leadership. Eight participants completed the course and are now qualified to deliver FIH Level 1 programmes in their own communities.
To apply their learning, the developers helped deliver an FIH Level 1 Coach course for local coaches. Participants showed strong engagement, and the energy in the room reflected the growing passion for hockey in the region.
Newly qualified Developers: Terence Corrie, Astral Smith, Maxine Edwards, Catherine Fabiano, Shaun Corrie, Melba Nautu, Ernest Movik, Fatima Marrio
FIH Educators: Kirsten Stuckey, Gill Gemming
