Oceania Hockey Federation, through appointed Technical Delegate Gill Gemming, has been working closely with the Pacific Games Organising Committee on areas such as the Hockey 5s facility, equipment needs to run the event, and the competition format. The competition is currently proposed to run in the second week of the Games. This facility is a multi purpose to be shared with Futsol which will run in the first week.

Solomon Islands Hockey Federation signed an agreement with the new High Performance Centre (SINIS)  which has been set up by the Solomon Islands Government to lift the performance of athletes and coaches in all the sporting codes that will be represented by the Solomons. Hockey has been very proactive in its use of the facilities and the expertise immediately it opened.

Currently, two coaches, Paul Luiromo and Lyn Basii (both national players) have been selected as part of the coach training program. A squad of 40 athletes (male and female) has been in training regularly with the SINIS staff undertaking both fitness and skills training sessions.

Aaron Alsop (second from left in photo) the Director of the High Performance Centre, organised a container of equipment for the Centre and offered space to OHF to include hockey equipment which would support the training of the national teams.
