International Day of Disabled Persons Celebrated Across Oceania

Working in partnership woth Team Up, Hook in4 Health program has been working productively to increase capacity and n capability within all areas of hockey, providing disabled people wth both quality and equitable participation opportunities that they can enjoy.
Oceania Hockey members - Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Vanuatu have all had programs running, some examples are:
New Zealand recognised International Day of Disabled Persons by facilitating a development officers participation workshop where one of the streams concentrated on delivery of quality inclusive opportunities for people in their associations. There was excellent sharing of strategies, resources, equipment involving the Halberg Trust and FIH/OHF. Other successful programs combining with other sports such as golf were run within local New Zealand Hockey Associations.
Papua New Guinea Hook in4 Health Team joined with Rugby League to provide their group with a hockey opportunity. As a result Special Olympics have set up 8 hockey trainings over the next 2 weeks.
