Joining in the Fun in Manus Province
Published Tue 02 Apr 2024
Australia is partnering with PNG Hockey and Oceania Hockey Federation to encourage communities around PNG to live well, learn well, and lead well, through hockey.
Over a hundred women, girls, and boys from Rei village in Manus Province recently participated in a week-long outreach program by the Hookin4health PNG team.
In addition to learning how to play and officiate hockey games, participants played games and did activities that were inclusive and focussed on empowering women and girls.
Children from the Pisik Primary School also learnt about climate change and protecting the coastal environment, which included a beach cleanup, through the PNG Olympic Committee ‘s Love Your Coast’ program.
Representatives from the Australian High Commission joined in the fun and participated in some of the games with locals.
The Hook in4 Health Program is supported by the Australian Government through Team Up. #PNGAusPartnership#Sport4Dev #SportsDiplomacy
